RESEARCH

Our mission is to raise funds for research to find a treatment and cure for Hypophosphatasia, and to be your strongest ally in your fight against HPP. To accomplish this, HPP-Choose Hope is raising funds years around. Once we have our 501(c)3 status our Goal for the year 2013 will be to raise over 1million dollars that will go directly to research. Also, educating the next generation of HPP researchers and physicians is one of the goals at HPP-Choose Hope. To help us achieve this goal we have put together an outstanding Medical Advisory Board who’s job it will be to select were the funds would best be used. Further Information will be coming soon.

There are no FDA-approved treatments for Hypophosphatasia at this time. Currently treatments being tested are:

  • Enzyme Replacement therapy

At the 92nd Annual meeting of the Endocrine Society a recent study was presented that showed improvement in bone mineralization and function with children with HPP. Endurance, strength and pain reduction where reported.

Asfotase alfa (Formerly ENB-0040)

Alexion is developing an investigational drug asfotase alfa, a protein that addresses the underlying cause of HPP by the replacement of the missing enzyme to the necessary body tissue. They hope this drug will prevent or reverse the severe and life-threatening complications in patients with HPP. For more information go to there web site.
